Holiday Season Is Officially Here

I went out for a few minutes today to go get some pizza.  I saw down the street that the Christmas tree’s were on sale.  That, combined with the Salvation Army ringing bells outside Bloomingdale’s and the snowflake hung at 57th & 5th, means that the holiday season is officially here.

It also means that, like the swallows at Capistrano, the tourists are coming.

So sick

I’m so sick.  Bad head cold.  Nose is running like it’s training for a marathon.  Coughing like it’s worth money.  Asthma acting up worse than an ADHD kid who’s missed his Ritalin dose.

During the day, I’m taking Advil Cold & Sinus with a generous sprinkling of Halls and soup.  At night, it’s NyQuil.

It started Thursday afternoon.  I felt that tickle in the back of my throat that always means something nasty is coming.  Friday was the worst.  Today has been a bit better than Friday, but still not good.  At this rate, I should be fine on Monday morning, just in time for work.  Woohoo!

I guess at this point, I need to thank whoever invented Puffs Plus.  Without them, my nose would have fallen off yesterday.

I think I really need one of these USB beverage chillers.

Fun stuff you can find on the Internet

I’ve been pretty tired this past week and as a result, spent a lot of time sleeping today. As a result, I’m wide awake and kind of a little bored. It was with all this free time that I found out that if you use Google and search for “human organs” a somewhat humorous/scary sponsored link comes up in the results.

Reminds me of what happens if you look to buy batteries on Amazon.com. If you look at most of the brand name battery entries on Amazon, you will invariably see a “Buy it used” link. I looked at condom’s on Amazon hoping to find a “Buy it used” link, but no such luck. Now that would have been really funny!

If anyone is looking for something to get me for Xmas, here’s a hint at something I might like.

Maybe this year I’ll get a Christmas Tree.

Who’s the moron that runs FOX TV?

I don’t get it.  The same network that canceled Arrested Development leaves Stacked on the air?  An intelligent comedy with real character development, great plot lines, and a good cast goes the way of the dodo, but a one joke boob-fest that isn’t funny at all gets to stick around like a really bad bathroom smell.

Not to mention Kitchen Confidential which, while not the best thing on, had some potential, and was certainly more entertaining than that other show mentioned above.

Is someone at FOX on drugs?

Great salad

This apple pecan salad with goat cheese that I found on Slashfood the other day is easy to make and tastes quite good.  I definitely recommend it.

iBook AirPort problems resolved (for now)

Over the past few days there have been two updates to OS X 10.4.  10.4.3 came out on Monday and included a whole bunch of updates.  I normally do not update any software with patches until a few days/weeks have passed because usually something breaks as a result of the update, and I don’t like being a guinea pig.  That philosophy only works when I’m not waiting for the patch to fix something that isn’t working for me, as is the case with my AirPort problem.

I checked the Apple discussion to see what other people’s experiences were and if the update fixed their problem.  There were reports of it fixing the problem for some people and not fixing the problem for others, so I decided to give it a go.

Star Wars Ep. III DVD Easter Egg

Thanks to TheForce.Net I was able to view the dancing Yoda easter egg on the DVD.

I have a SONY DVD player and I had to enter the 1138 as

1 enter 1 enter 3 enter 8 enter

(took some trial and error) and then it started.
