Aquarium

On September 7, 2002, for my 29th birthday, my parents gave me a 10-gallon aquarium kit. It consisted of an All-Glass 10-gallon aquarium, a box filter, pump, 5 lbs. of sand colored gravel, 3 plastic shrubs, a packet of Stress Coat (with Aloe Vera), a packet of Stress Zyme, some goldfish food, and a lighted top for the tank. The pet store where we got the tank suggested that we use a product called Cycle, which was supposed to introduce helpful bacteria into the tank. We bought it (seemed logical to us).

Since that time, I have been both stimulated and frustrated by this hobby. A correctly functioning tank is a joy to watch, but when things aren't going well, it becomes a hurricane of trial-and-error to figure out what's gone wrong and how to fix it.
