What Exactly Is In Wendy’s Burgers?
I was watching TV and saw a Wendy’s commercial touting how their burgers are made with fresh beef. I like looking at the fine print in ads, so I noticed the following screen:
In case you can’t read it, at the bottom it says, “Fresh beef available in contiguous US and CN.”
So what exactly are the burgers made of in Hawaii and Alaska?
It meant to say-continental US and Canada
Larry: “Contiguous US” and “Continental US” are synonymous. They both refer to the 48 connected states, excluding both Hawaii and Alaska.
Frozen Beef (hopefully).
Debbie Lou: I hope. I really, really hope.
Maybe they use pineapple in Hawaii and snow in Alaska with added beef flavourings.
Contiguous and Continental are not synonymous. Contiguous means touching, continental would suggest on the same continent. The latter would include Alaska since it is on the same continent as the rest of the US even though it is not contiguous.
Mike, technically you are correct, but I’ve never heard anyone use the technical definition in speech. When people say, “Continental US”, they are almost always referring to the lower 48 states (plus D.C.).
