My Bedside Lamp & the String

A few years ago I bought this bedside lamp to replace one that had broken, and by the time I got around to opening it up that day, it was pretty close to bedtime and I didn’t have time to completely remove all the tags.  Well, specifically one tag.  This one tag’s string was looped around the chain-switch, and had sort of gone into the recess and I couldn’t get it out, so I yanked on it real hard.  The string broke at the bottom and the tag came off, but the rest of the string stayed put.  I went to sleep that night with the idea that I would get rid of the extra string the next morning, but never did.

Night after night I told myself that I would get rid of the string in the morning.  Every morning I found myself with more important things to do, like drink coffee and shower and go to work. And every night I would shut off the light and tell myself I would take care of that string in the morning.

Well, this morning I did it.  I woke up, sat down for coffee, and went back into the bedroom with a pair of tweezers, and got rid of that damn string!  You have no idea how good it feels to finally have done it.  I should have done it sooner.
