A comedian created the ‘Best Party’ and won 34.7% of the vote. Now he’s the mayor of a city with 1/3 of Iceland’s population.
In his acceptance speech he tried to calm the fears of the other 65.3 percent. “No one has to be afraid of the Best Party,” he said, “because it is the best party. If it wasn’t, it would be called the Worst Party or the Bad Party. We would never work with a party like that.”
With his party having won 6 of the City Council’s 15 seats, Mr. Gnarr needed a coalition partner, but ruled out any party whose members had not seen all five seasons of “The Wire.”
Well, “The Wire” is the best TV show I’ve ever seen.
The Big Picture takes on the inauguration of President Barack Obama
Amazing pictures from around the inauguration, the country, and the world. The amount, and diversity, of people is amazing.
For the horologists out there, the watch he’s wearing in #36 is a Jorg Grey JGC6500, which was a gift from his Secret Service detail.
I wonder why Former President Bush chose to label the envelope he left for President Obama with a Post-It Note rather than just label the envelope (#48)?
After eight long, tiresome years, President Al Gore won’t be missed
A delicious spoof of the last eight years in America.
On Gore’s handling of hurricane Katrina:
And Gore’s decision to single-handedly venture into a flattened house in Mississippi and free a trapped two-year-old showed him to be an irresponsible showboat. Sure, President Gore knows CPR, hears like a German shepherd, and has the strength of 10 men - but we didn’t need to see it.
Obama’s new Chief of Staff is Ari Gold’s brother
Well, sort of. Rahm Emanuel is the brother of Ari Emanuel, who is the inspiration for the Ari Gold character on Entourage. Insert “hug it out” joke here.
Wassap 2008
The boys from the Budweiser commercial are back.
Al, a shoe salesman, calculates his tax cut under Barack Obama’s plan
He’s married, with children, and will save $1,000.
Palin Brushing Up On Foreign Policy At Epcot
How scary is it when a “The Onion” headline could be mistaken for a real headline?
Oh, and the story seems completely plausible too.
Special edition of ‘Meet the Press’
NBC will have a special edition of ‘Meet the Press’ to remember Tim Russert (who passed away this past Friday).
Although I hate politics, ‘Meet the Press’ is the one political show I watch (on occasion), and I watch because of Tim. He had such enthusiasm, he seemed fair, and he seemed like someone you could be friends with (even though he’s a Bills fan). He’ll be missed.
Best comment quote of the year
“Saying that Hillary has Executive Branch experience is like saying Yoko Ono was a Beatle.”
UGA president calls for 8-team playoff for college football
It’s good when the President of one of the best teams in the nation, in the best conference in the nation, calls for it, but there’s too much politics and TV money for it to work. Watch for multiple lawsuits if the NCAA tries to do anything.
I think Scott Adams (of Dilbert fame) put the whole flag burning debate in the proper perspective.
How come the people who should be politicians are drawing cartoons?
