Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory studied the waters around NYC and the lower Hudson valley, and found a whole bunch of different stuff:

5. A Freight Train
It was carrying passenger baggage one afternoon in 1865, and failed to stop at the Peekskill drawbridge, which was open. Two men were killed.

The list of 28 things include teredos and gribbles, shipwrecks, a Formica dinette, and 1,600 bars of silver worth about $26 million. The silver sounds tempting, but you have to contend with the dead bodies.

Every now and then someone sends me an e-mail that claims the difference between Coke and water, and how bad Coke is for you. To illustrate that, the e-mail points out that Coke can be used to clean a toilet, help remove a rusty bolt or remove blood from a highway accident.
